This is a great story. I loved all the characters including Noir the helpful one eyed cat. The author really made the village of Horace Hollow come alive for me. Fans of Diane Setterfields novel, Once Upon A River would RELLY enjoy this book.

This book takes a different look at time and what it means to lose it or use it. It has tones of loneliness and bullying. The characters are well developed and relatable. This story reads a little bit like folklore or a fairy tale. It reminds me of something that you might read by Neil Gaiman. There's magic, a bit of intrigue, romance, and a moral. This was a delight to read.

I liked the characters in Nancy's story; I thought they were relatable. The story felt like a folk tale with a new and interesting plot. The stained-glass craft was interesting as well, as it was incorporated into the story.

edit: I read this on my own, now my book club is reading it. There's actually a lot to talk about for a short book. It is original in concept, full of twist, good character development. I am a fan of moral ambiguity in characters: this book is full of that. I want to root for Horace because he is so alone, but what do the choices he makes say about him? Is he a good person?

Nancy Hartmann's debut novel has an original and exciting plot. The characters were well developed, and I felt as though I was transformed into their world. I love the way Jasper evolved throughout the book. Once I got into it, I didn't want to put the book down. I highly recommend this book to all fiction lovers, and I look forward to more work from Nancy Hartmann!
